I had a blast fishing with good friend Jamie Shepherd & our oldest daughter Amanda in the Gulf of Mexico.
Waves made it challenging to keep our rigs near the bottom and to fight fish without loosing our balance. That’s our daughter Amanda fighting a good size grouper on the Rapala Speed Jigging Rod and heavy duty R-Type spinning reel.
We had “lumpy” seas and I had to have the Yamaha 115 hp outboard in and out of reverse to keep out lines vertical in the winds and tides, but we still managed to catch some nice grouper.
The bait of choice was strips of Squirrel Fish (Sand Perch) fished on a #4 Gamakatsu Circle hook and a 4 oz. sliding egg-sinker.
