This past weekend with some old friends and some new ones ! My good
buddie Bronsyn Walker-Martin (age 14) took me to Little Lake near Barrie for some awesome Northern Pike action. It was a frigid weekend with temperatures dipping well into the -20’s without windchill. However, runing back and forth from hole to hole definately kept us warm ! We had a great time on the ice landing a PILE of Pike.
Sunday was the better of the two days landing our first 8 Northerns in the first 2 and a half hours of fishing! Bronsyn and I used a few different presentations including 1/4 oz jigs tipped with a 4 inch Shiners. And the “good ol” Gamakatsu wide gap hook and sinker fished near bottom, once again with a 4 inch
shiner. Both techniques worked quite well ! Although we were walking on 8 inches of safe ice, there are still many lakes in Central and Southern Ontario that are NOT safe yet, so please exercise caution when venturing out.
If you would like to book a guided trip for some of these toothy Northerns or any other specie that the wonderful province of Ontario has to offer, don’t hesitate to send me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org Or come on up to Red Pine Wilderness Lodge, ON this summer for some trophy Walleye, Pike and Bass action!
Please be safe on the ice and I hope to see you all out there !
