West-coast Steelhead update.
Posted on April 10th, 2016Noel Gyger reports. Mostly sunny with highs to +16 degrees Celsius. Kalum River is fishing very well for Steelhead, especially the upper end; guiding started April 1st. Skeena River in poor to fair shape due to heavy rains. Zymoetz (Copper) River is dirty from the rains. Reg: No Fishing upstream of the sign at the transmission line crossing (downstream of Zymoetz Canyon) Jan 1 – June 15.
Steelhead fishing below this closure is still permitted. Just need to find some open water and give it a shot. Kitimat River is finally starting to clean up after the rains and fishing for Trout is picking up; with the rain and high water should bring in lots of Steelhead. Ocean fishing for Salmon, Halibut, Prawn and Crab good out of the ports of Kitimat and Prince Rupert.
