We just shot a lead-core trolling show for Lake Trout at Eagle Lake Island Lodge, ON.
Posted on September 25th, 2009My wife Barbara and I were blessed to shoot a lead-core trolling show for Lake Trout today. While most anglers know that www.eaglelakeislandlodge.com, produces lot’s of trophy walleye, pike, smallmouth bass, & musky, many anglers don’t realize that they also offer excellent Lake Trout fishing.
We travelled about 1-hr. from the lodge to an area of 90′ of water and had Mark Randle (owner of Eagle Lake Island Lodge), and Ron Buth troll from one boat using downriggers, www.luckystrikebaitoworks.com , Spoons and Rapalas, while Barbara & I fished from the 2010 G3 using Rapala Trolling Rods with Counter Reels and Lead-core line with Lucky Strike Spoons. Mark & Ron boated 5-lakers that included an 8 & 10 lb. beauty, and Barb & I boated 4-lakers with the biggest about 4 lb.
The nice thing about trolling deep basins at Eagle Lake is that you can catch Lake Trout, Walleye and Pike fishing the same area, with the same lures in water as deep as 80′!
