We just finished shooting a dynamic Salmon TV show at Sund’s Lodge, BC.
Posted on August 10th, 2010[nggallery id=294]We just finished putting in our first full-day fishing at Sund’s Lodge and had a great time landing big Chinook Salmon in the mid-20 lb. range, as well as nice Pink & Sockeye Salmon. Our guide was Geoffrey Duddridge and we started the day at about 5:30am. Conditions were excellent with fog keeping the wind from blowing up. We started by trolling in about 100′ of water and running downriggers 60-80′ down. Geoffrey rigged up Luhr Jensen flashers with Anchovie cap-baits. We had our first salmon hit within 20 min. of starting to troll, but could not keep it on. The action really started to heat-up after 11am when we started be hooking a nice 22 lb. Chinook followed by my wife Barbara landing two nice Pink Salmon (a male and female fish), and lastly we landed a nice Sockeye Salmon. When we arrived at the dock about 4pm, most of the other boats were also returning with their catches. Lot’s of trophy Chinooks were caught by everyone as well as a mix of Pink & Sockeye Salmon and trophy Halibut.
We landed out fish using Mooching Rods equipped with Rapala North Coast Mooching Reels and 25 lb. test Rapala Tough monofilament line.
