I’m a big fan of not just jigging, but “shaking” my jig along the bottom and crawling it slowly when walleye just don’t want to chase faster moving presentations. My go-to soft-plastic is definitely the Lunker City Fin-S Fish in the 4″ size and the adequate weight jighead to get it to the bottom.
My strategy is to use the lightest jighead I can so that when I gently lift and shake, that jig remains in the 1′ strike range of most in-active walleye right along the bottom.
I also find that using the Lunker City Fin-S Fish jighead with its flat configuration also adds to the side to side “shake” of the soft-plastic and helps to keep the presentation from moving much more slowly than a round jighead.
The lighter jig is also ideal to enable a walleye to “inhale” it!
