Vertical Jigging for Walleye & Smallmouth.

Posted on October 18th, 2015

Time to get the winter cloths out and rain gear. It’s getting nasty out there. I was on the water shooting an episode for the new TV series using a vertical-spoon jigging presentation in 50km winds & rain and I can attest it made for very challenging boat control and fishing.

The G3 handled it well and the Raymarine electronics put me onto fish, but it was tough to keep my line vertical and to concentrate on fishing on-top of the fish I was marking.

It was a tough bite, but I worked at it and landed several nice smallmouth and walleye. Non of the fish “inhaled” the spoon and they were caught in water depth ranging from 24-50′ deep! That’s why I went with the jigging spoon presentation. Kind of like jigging while ice-fishing, just from a boat!
