Upper NY tributary fishing update.

Posted on January 18th, 2016

Ron Bierstine reports. Some showers thru last night and above freezing temps so far today, Sat, in the AM. The little bit of snow we had is mostly gone.

No big run-off so no significant change in trib flows. Flows in the Oak Orchard are low – mod and mostly clear. Lite fishing pressure with a few guys in the typical winter holding water spots scoring a few darker steelhead and rehab browns. There’s no significant icing on the Oak Orchard. Other area smaller tribs have mod flows and are mostly running slushy or chunky with most spots frozen up. With any reasonable cold weather that doesn’t lock up the waterway, the Genny might come back around for fishable flows. Forecasted cold temps tomorrow and thru next week with lake effect snows with greater accumulations southwest of Point Breeze, NY.
