Upper Niagara River, ON perch fishing.

Posted on July 24th, 2013

Today as we were getting ready to launch our 18′ Riverhawk to fish Lake Erie, ON for bass out of Fort Erie, ON, I saw my good friend Clint Clendening who literally fished every morning for perch out of his aluminum boat right near the Fort Erie, ON boat launch. Today he was fishing with Charles Stiles and he was pulling his boat out as we were getting ready to put ours in. As I walked up to say hello, I could see that they have to pail-fulls of white and yellow perch. They did really well considering they only fished for about 1 1/2 hr. using small live minnows on drop-shot rigs near the bottom. Clint told me that today he did not even start his motor, he just rowed-out about 30 yds., anchored and they caught all the fish they wanted. The yellow perch ranged from 9-11 inches in size with some larger white perch….well done Clint & Charles!
