I had a great time fishing with my friends Patrick and James for smallmouth. Strong winds from the west made for challenging boat control but we managed to hook a dozen nice-size smallmouth.
Dragging 4″ tubes in 20-30′ with Sufix 832 braid main-lines proved the most successful.
Fishing was slow early in the morning with a cold-front moving through, but thinks picked-up by 10am and we started hooking fish.
We experienced the best fishing between 11am-1pm when the sun came out and things warmed up.
Best color was the “Goby” & the “Pete’s Tackle Special” (Goby color with a pearl belly). Angela Lee at Pete’s Bait & Tackle in St. Catharines, ON said that color is so good she sells almost 10,000 of those tubes a year!
