[nggallery id=714]We just finished an excellet trophy, wild Brook Trout TV show from Air Ivanhoe, Foleyet, ON. Joel Theriault, our guide and pilot for our week adventure at Air Ivanhoe had planned to fly us out to a wilderness lake to catch trophy walleye but rain and a low flying ceiling kept us from flying anywhere. Joel quickly switched to plan “B” and we loaded an aluminum boat on their Yamaha ATV and we trailered another boat behind a 4-wheel drive vehicle and headed “back-country”. We traelled about :45 min from thair float plane base and then loaded up both boats on the ATV and headed down a small trail for another mile to reach a flooded beaver lake where we fished for a few hours for wild Brook Trout.
Joel had equipped our aluminum boat with a Minn Kota electric to get us around and we also had a portable Humminbird 130 sonar to help us locate the original creek channel. My wife Barb & I used the Rapala F2 ultralight rods equipped with Rapala spinning reels and loaded with Sufix 832 6 lb. test braided line and Sufix 6 lb. test fluorocarbon leaders.
We cast Lucky Strike 1/8 oz. spoons and the Rapala Husky Jerk in the #6 size, while Joel fished worms and minnows rigged on a Vibrax #0. We had great action and landed many wild Brook Trout between 14-17″ in size. To finish the day, Joel prepared an awesome fresh brook trout meal with his special “organic” ingredients. If you love to fish for Brook Trout you won’t want to miss this TV shows. To book a trip with Air Ivanhoe, just go to their website, www.airivanhoe.com .
