Trophy Lake Trout, Lake Joseph, Muskoka, ON.

Posted on May 16th, 2013

[nggallery id=866]I had a chance to fish Lake Joseph yesterday for some trophy Lake trout.  Unfortunately, winds were blowing and air temperatures were cool.  We decided to use jigs/TriggerX minnows along with the Rapala More Silda spoons and Rapala Snap Raps.  The big producerswere the Trigger X Minnow and TriggerX Paddle Tail Minnow fished anywhere from 25-80′ deep.

All of us used Rapala R-Type and Rapala Shift spinning & baitcasting outfits loaded with Sufix 832 braids to catch our fish.

Tom McMurray shows off the biggest lakers of the trip that nailed the TriggerX bait fished suspended 80′ down in 180′ of water.  Chris also holds up a trophy lake trout he caught much shallower in less than 30′ using the TriggerX Paddle Tail Minnow.  It was extremely difficult to hold our boats in position to properly vertical jig, but we were still able to land some nice fish!
