Trophy Lake Ontario tributary steelhead and migratory brown trout action.

This trophy female steelhead was fresh-run and fought hard, but was not match for the Rapala Concept Ti drift outfit.
I had an awesome day today fishing with Aldo Nava, www.niagarafishingadventrues.com , and our friend James in a Lake Ontario tributary. We all fished Rapala drift outfits with spawn-sacks and TriggerX single eggs.
There’s still quite a bit of ice along the shorelines and at one time James got too close and went through…you could say this is a new “twist”on ice fishing for steelhead!
In addition, I witnesses a first today. James caught a black crappie steelhead fishing…yup…go figure?
Most of the action was on the single eggs. You can see from this underwater shot Aldo took with his iPhone 6+ (that’s right, he “dunked-it”), how natural these imitation eggs are to a fish.
We landed as many migratory brown trout as steelhead and had a great time!
