[nggallery id=855]My good friend Mike Scarlett, Mulligan my pup and I endured breezy conditions and rain today to check-out some future TV fishing show locations for redfish and snook. We made about a 10 mile to Gasparilla, Fl and checked some shallow mangrove shorelines during the in-coming tide to see if we could locate stretches with feeding fish. After our long run I had to slow down to negotiate some shallow flats where good sunglasses are inavaluable to be able to determine wher the water is at least 1.5′ deep to be able to slowly get close to the mangrove shorelines. As soon as we started working the first mangrove island, within 10-casts I had my first redfish on.
The hot bait was again was the TriggerX chartreuse tube fished with the Rapala Rapala Shift and Concept Ti rods matched with Rapala Shift reels, and Rapala Andros spinning reels, both loaded with Sufix 832, 10lb. test braid and Sufix Fluorocarbon leaders.
I ended up catching all of the redfish and snook on the TriggerX 4″ chartreuse tube and lost the biggest fish of the day just before we left.
Tomorrow they are calling for better conditions, but cooler weather. Mike, Mulligan and I will be putting in our last fishing day tomorrow before I head back to Canada on Friday.
