[nggallery id=854]I had the pleasure of fishing again with my good friend Mike Scarlett and after a full day of rain and wind yesterday the conditions improved today with light winds of 5 kts, no rain and little wind. We both decided to take my boat and make about a 15 mile run past Boca Grande, Fl to fish some of the grass flats and bars off Pine Island, Fl.
The run was well worth it. We both ended up limiting-out on trophy spotted sea trout and were catching so many fish that we lost count! The hot bait was again a selection of TriggerX chartreuse tube , Paddle Tail Minnow and the new Drop Dead Minnow all fished on a 1/8 oz. jighead about 4′ under a poping cork. The fish were hitting the TriggerX grubs that many fish had the whole jig in their throat! Mike even landed a surprise blowfish on TriggerX
Both Mike and I fished the Rapala Rapala Shift and Concept Ti rods matched with Rapala Shift reels, and Rapala Andros spinning reels, both loaded with Sufix 832, 10lb. test braid and Sufix Fluorocarbon leaders.
Tomorrow we’ll be scouting some new TV filming locations for Mikes favorite saltwater fish….redfish!
