Noel Gyger reports. Weather forecast to be sunny on Saturday with clouds and showers on Sunday. Skeena River is in good shape and catches of Steelhead and Coho are reported to be good. This is my favourite time of year to fish on the Skeena. There is a trick to catching lots of these fish. Best way to learn is to hire a good fishing guide. Kitimat River is fishing fair for Coho.
Kalum River is fishing well for Steelhead and Coho. Fly fishing for Coho on this river works well. I have seen the fly fishermen out-fish the spin fishermen many times. Zymoetz (Copper) River Steelheading is good. Fly rods (dry and wet fly) working well. Did I say float fishing, spoon and lures works well also? Coho are now coming into the lower Skeena tributary rivers such as the Gitnadoix, Kasiks and Exchamsiks. Fish the lower end where you can find deep cut banks, pools and runs. Look for rolling fish. Lakelse River Bridge is starting to produce Coho. Marabou jigs work well so does 3/8 & 1/2 oz spoons and Vibrax #3 & #4 spinners. Lake fishing is good everywhere. Ocean fishing out of Kitimat and Prince Rupert is excellent; so is Crabbing and Prawning. Good luck this weekend.
