Terrace, BC Tributary Report.
Posted on August 3rd, 2009Noel Gyger reports. The weather has been good all week with no rain. We are having a “heat wave†with temperatures reaching 30 plus degrees C on the weekend causing rivers to rise as the last of the snow melt comes off the mountains. The Skeena River is still in good condition and folks are still catching lots of fish with both fly and conventional gear. Right now is “prime time†for Sockeye (Red) and Chinook (King) Salmon. I heard Greg Buck, pro guide, got his client into a 70-pounder this week. In addition to the BIG Chinook, the summer-run Steelhead and Coho (Silver) Salmon are migrating through. You need to fish different water to catch them. The Kalum River is clean and fishing for Chinook is very good. The Zymoetz (Copper) River is borderline fishable. In addition to Chinook, Chum, Coho and Pink are showing up in the Kitimat River.
