Terrace, BC & area fishing conditions and tips.

Posted on June 11th, 2015

Expect trophy steelhead like these to start coming up many of the Terrace, BC area tributaries starting late summer.

Noel Gyger reports. Sunny with with highs to +20 degrees Celsius. Hot weather is causing just about all the rivers to go out of shape. Skeena River is very high and dirty and won’t befishable by the weekend. Go west; we think you will find better conditions. Try fishing the clean water of the Skeena tribs such as the Kasiks, Extew and Exchamsiks where they join up with the Skeena, theory is the Chinook come into this water to clean their gills. Reg: you can only fish for Chinook below the Highway 16 bridges. Kalum River is high but still fishable in  both lower and upper ends. Upper end is closed for Chinook. You can fish for the only in the lower end. .Zymoetz (Copper) River is very high and dirty. Reg: No fishing above the sign at the transmission line crossing (below Zymoetz Canyon), Jan 1 – June 15. After June 15 the Chinook will be coming  in. Lakelse River Bridge is now starting to produce a few Chinook. Kitimat River Chinook run has started. Ocean fishing for Salmon, Halibut, Prawn and Crab is still good out of the ports of Kitimat, Stewart and Prince Rupert.
