Noel Gyger reports. Weather forecast cloudy with showers. Rivers should remain fishable except for the main stem Skeena.Mainstem Skeena River is too dirty. Ocean fishing is excellent!
This is normal for this time of year. Kalum is good for both Chinook and Steelhead on the same day. Note: upper Kalum closes for Chinook on May 24th. Kitimat for Chinook and Steelhead. Fresh Chinook have started coming in; the lower end is hot right now. Estuary is hot also; only experienced jet boaters should go here. Please be safe. The Steelhead are just about spawned out so focus should be on Chinook and Trout. Try fishing for Chinook on the Exchamsiks and Kasiks in the clean water below the highway #16 bridges. Chinook is closed above the bridges. Trout fishing on the Lakelse is good, but water is high. Isolated coastal rivers for Steelhead is good if you know the pools;the guides do. Lake fishing is starting to pick up everywhere. Ocean fishing out of Kitimat and Prince Rupert is excellent; so is Crabbing and Prawning. Good luck this weekend.
