Terrace, BC and area fishing update.

Posted on January 23rd, 2015
LOOKING FORWARD to the early Chinook run: Robert Pratt of Kamloops BC released this beauty Chinook (King) Salmon back into the Kalum River "after a kiss". These Chinook start coming in third week April and run peaks around third week May in the upper end. With an experienced fishing guide and a little luck you can catch both Chinook and Steelhead on the same day.

Noel Gyger reports. Weather mix of clouds and light rain, highs of 5 degrees C. Kalum River is in good shape and the Steelheading is fantastic. Go get em! To me, this is the BEST time to fish this river. Zymoetz (Copper) River is fishing well for Steelhead. The upper end closed Dec 31. One can fish only in the lower end now. Reg: No fishing above the sign at the transmission line crossing (below Zymoetz Canyon), Jan 1 – June 15. Upper Lakelse River is fishing well for Steelhead.  The Coho are just about all spawned out. Kitimat River is fishing well for Trout. Heard rumours of people wanting to float the river already. Ocean fishing for Salmon, Halibut, Prawn and Crab is still good out of the ports of Kitimat and Prince Rupert.
