Fish and Wildlife Branch have been pushing anglers to keep their fish in the water (if they plan on releasing them). Washington State implemented a regulation a decade or so ago making it unlawful to remove some fish species from the water due to the science that’s recently become available which shows that some fish lose a percent of survival for every second out of water after landing.

Weather mix of rain and snow. Where did our winter go? Kalum River is in good shape and the Steelheading is fantastic. Go get em! To me, this is the BEST time to fish this river. Zymoetz (Copper) River is fishing well for Steelhead. The upper end closed Dec 31. One can fish only in the lower end now. Reg: No fishing above the sign at the transmission line crossing (below Zymoetz Canyon), Jan 1 – June 15. Upper Lakelse River is fishing well for Steelhead. Kitimat River is fishing well for Trout. Ocean fishing for Salmon, Halibut, Prawn and Crab is still good out of the ports of Kitimat and Prince Rupert.
