coho-aug-7_2014Noel Gyger reports. Weather cloudy with sunny breaks. Skeena River Chinook fishing is very good. Reg: Chinook closure: Aug 7 – Dec 31 in a zone from Lakelse River mouth upstream to the Skeena River Overpass (New Hwy) Bridge) at Ferry Island. Sockeye is good; limit has been increased from 2 fish per day to 4 fish per day. The summer-run Steelhead are coming in now and so are the Pink and Chum. Check the Tyee Test Fishery Charts in the fishing report webpage. Kitimat River is in good shape but Chinook fishing has slowed down. Most of the run is already through. Pinks and Chum are coming in now and fishing for them has been good. Ocean fishing for Salmon and Bottom Fish out of Kitimat and Prince Rupert is good; so is Crabbing and Prawning.
