Fly Angler Mateo with a Coho that was estimated weigh over 20-pounds. Mateo was fishing a remote stream out of Kitimat BC. Photo by Tracey Hittel of Kitimat Lodge.Noel Gyger reports. Weekend weather forecasts sun and clouds with warmer temperatures. Skeena River in good shape and catches of Steelhead, Coho and Pink are reported to be excellent. There is a trick to catching lots of these fish. Best way to learn is to hire a good fishing guide. Kitimat River is fishing well for Coho. Kalum River is fishing well for Steelhead and Coho. Fly fishing for Coho on this river works well. I’ve seen the fly fishermen out-fish the spin fishermen many times. Coho will chase the fly so strip slowly. I think the good fly fishing is due to the “glacier green” colour of the water. Bulkley River is fishing well for Steelhead. More rivers and detail are in the Current Fishing Report. Lake fishing is good everywhere. Ocean fishing out of Kitimat and Prince Rupert is excellent; so is Crabbing and Prawning. Good luck this weekend.
