Terrace, BC and area fishing forecast.
Posted on March 30th, 2013Rob Vodola with a large Kalum River Steelhead landed in March. Guiding on the Kalum starts April 1st.
Noel Gyger reports. Day time temperatures are warming up but most rivers are still very low. This can make fishing a challenge but this is still a good time to try for a Steelhead. The lower Copper, Skeena, Lakelse and Kalum Rivers are the best choice. Spring Steelhead should be coming into the Kitimat River now but we sure could use a good “bump” of water. Kitimat and Lakelse Rivers are both good for Trout and Dolly Varden Char. Steelhead run in isolated coastal rivers is picking up. Lots of sunshine forecast for the weekend. Winter Springs are in both Kitimat Douglas Channel and Prince Rupert. Dungeness Crab and Prawning is excellent!
“Another week and another above average steelhead extravaganza. Local rivers are still quite low and this pushes the Steelhead into the tail out water for sure. Holding fish as well fresh arrivals are in most systems and April will be a great time for the majority of the run,” says Tracey Hittel of Kitimat Lodge.
