Posted on August 6th, 2014

barbara_pinksalmonMy wife Barbara. our good friend Aaron Shirley and several other good friends are having a great time fishing from Sund’s Lodge, BC.  Today was our first full day fishing the waters out from Malcom Island, BC.

aaron_italo_cohoWe started at 5:30am and targeted several species of Pacific Salmon and immediately started hooking pink and coho salmon trolling a variety of Luhr Jensen flasher with Luhr Jensen Flash Flies and Coyote spoons.

aaron_yellow_rockfishAfter catching several salmon we switched to fishing for bottom fish that included halibut, ling cod and different species of rock cod.

aaron_lingcodAaron strated things off by landing a trophy 20 lb. link cod.

bar-b_blackbassMy wife Barbara landed this trophy Black Sea Bass which she caught fishing a whole herring on a spreader rig in 400′ of water.

barb_italo_lingcodI landed a bright Yellow Snapper (BC species of Rock Cod), which also tool a whole herring in about 350′ of water. Next both Barbara and I tied into a double-header Ling Cod which we successfully landed.

aaron_halibutAaron landed the only halibut, a chunky 20 lb. fish that fought hard and will be a tasty treat for his whole family. To catch our bottom fish both Aaron & I fished the Rapala RSC Speed Jigging Rods equipped with the Rapala Benthos saltwater Speed Jigging Reel loaded with 80 lb. Sufix 832 braid.

Tomorrow we are planning on starting at 5am and targeting Chinook salmon followed by doing some more bottom jigging for halibut and a variety of rock cod.

If you like the idea of enjoying fantastic saltwater fishing surrounded by some of the best scenery on Canada’s west coast, while staying at a world class resort, I would really encourage you to check-out http://sundslodge.com/main/ .
