Steven Strauss catches his first sheepshead.
Posted on July 5th, 2015I had the pleasure of taking our Steven Strauss and Gerald Fisher to the Niagara River and Lake Erie, NY for some fun-fishing.
Steven had never landed a sheepshead so we decided to target them in 25-30′ of water using our Raymarine CHIRP DownVision equipped fishfinder. In no time at all we were marking fish on the bottom and the action started quickly.
To ensure we would get the sheepshead to hit we gently jigged 3/8 oz. jigs right on the bottom. They were hitting very lightly, but we had no problem hooking-up regularly. I must admit that using the Raymarine fishfinder and also the Sufix 832 braid on our lines really made the difference in catching fish!
