Steelheaders may be in for excellent winter fishing.

Posted on January 10th, 2016

The long-range forecast for southern Ontario going right through January is looking pretty mild. If predictions are right, each week we will have daytime temperatures that will be above freezing, with just below-freezing temperatures at night.

This means that some of our Lake Ontario tributaries may have open-water areas enabling steelheaders to capitalize on winter steelhead and hold-over migratory brown trout. Make sure to keep your eye on the weather forecasts and don’t pack away your steelhead gear this winter!
