Steelhead fishing update, BC.
Posted on October 4th, 2015Noel Gyger reports. Light rain highs to +15 degrees Celsius. Skeena River in good shape. The anglers who know where and how to fish for summer-run Steelhead are doing well using all the methods. Coho fishing is fair. Kalum River in good shape and summer-run Steelhead and Coho are coming in and being caught. Zymoetz (Copper) River has been dropping an may be in good shape by the weekend. Kitimat River is fishing fair for Coho. The “trick” fishing the Kitimat is knowing where the “hot spots” are, which may change just about every day as the fish move up river…and how high the tides, etc. Exstew, Exchamsiks and Kasiks Rivers are starting to produce some fantastic Coho fishing! Many of the fish have moved way upriver anyway still fish around the deep canyon walls, pools and tree stumps. If you don’t see them rolling they are not there. Bulkley, Morice, Kispiox and Babine are all fishing well for Steelhead and Coho. Ocean fishing for Salmon, Halibut, Prawn and Crab good out of the ports of Kitimat, Stewart and Prince Rupert.
