Our weather is definitely changing in southern Ontario and with recent mild weather most lower-end of Great Lakes tributaries have blown-out and many have very good steelheading conditions.
Our good friend Michael Kumar was scouting the eastern Lake Ontario tributaries and confirms that some days they have been open, other with ice extending out both banks from shore. Amount of ice has been related to how cold night-time temperatures have dipped.
Fishing fresh trout and salmon egg spawn-sacks and also the ClearDrift soft-eggs fished under a float have been the top producers. The next two weeks should provide some of the best “low-end” Great Lakes tributary fishing of the spring!!
