We went down to Port Dalhousie, ON on Saturday to check on the fishing conditions and timed out trip so we could meet Aldo Nava who operates Niagara Fishing Adventures to see how he did no his morning charter with his 3-guests from NY, USA.

Water conditions were good, waves small and water clarity good.  The boys had a great time on the charter all landing trophy chinook salmon.

Aldo hooked salmon as close as 1 km out from Port Dalhousie in 30′ of water and all the way out to about 60′ of water.  All of the fish were caught in the upper water column using the Sufix Performance Leadcore line.  Five colors out did the trick which worked the Luhr Jensen Coyote spoons about 15-20′ below the surface.  Speed and size of lure will determine how deep the will run when using a sinking line, like leadcore.

Counter reels are important when you troll for Great Lakes salmon and Aldo had the Rapala RSC & Rapala Hydros counter reels rigged on Rapala trolling rods.
