One of my favorite species to target is Pike. I know some anglers that frown on targeting them. They say things like; they have too many teeth, they have a strong scent, they are slimy and hard to handle, and so on. I think they are a noble predator that is very well equipped with great vision, camouflage coloration, a nasty set of teeth, and a long, slick body that can instantly produce speed to intercept prey.
When water temperatures are cold and pretty clear my go-to lure to catch them is non-other than the Rapala Husky Jerk. You can simply cast and retrieve it, or every once and a while “twitch” it to give it a very tantalizing “zig-zag” action that pike can’t resist.
