Our good friend Larry Rencken had a chance to fish on well known Lake Lanier, Georgia. I would have thought that the weather would have been nice and warm there, you know, shorts-weather. Actually Larry ended up well clothed and fishing in cool conditions.
The water temperature was still relatively warm at 74F and the bass were already in transition moving to deeper water. They ended up catching several mice spotted bass like the one above, but no monsters. They relied on their Raymarine fishfinders to locate deeper-water drop-offs in the 25′ range and fished drop-shot rigs with soft-plastics.
A couple of weeks later the water had dropped to 71F and the bigger bass started co-operating. Fish move all the time and fishing becomes very interesting when you start to understand their daily and seasonal movements and start catching them with more reliability!
