Spinners for tributary salmon.

Posted on September 9th, 2019

I have used spinners for decades fishing river run salmon, steelhead and brown trout in the Great Lakes tributaries and steelhead and salmon in the BC rivers.  Michael Kumar can attest to their performance fishing out of Kitimat Loge, BC. This weeks feature image is Michael Kumar showing off a “silver” Coho he enticed into striking his Vibrax spinner.

The key to fishing spinners in any tributary is to fish them with the current or 45-degrees with the current and “slow-roll” the blade near the bottom. For some reason an even, slow retrieve works best just to get the blades spinning. In Michaels case he was using a pink colored body on his Vibrax which is a top color for both river run steelhead and salmon.
