Southwest Florida Spanish Mackerel action.

After several days of windy weather we were finally able to get out and fish some of the passes for one of my favorite “grilling” fish, the Spanish mackerel.

We found them feeding on the rising tide in 4-8′ of water and they were hammering bold spoons fished fast. We kept 5-mackerel for eating and enjoyed them using a very simple recipe.

I filled them and than just squeezed some Sriracha hot sauce over them in a Zip Lock bag and let them marinate for about 1/2 hr before cooking them on the grill….delicious!
