Southern Ontario trophy resident Brown Trout.

While many anglers have been targeting southern Ontario Great Lakes tributaries, John Walkington had his eyes on big resident Brown Trout.

John fishes stretches that are seldom fished by the average anglers where Brown trout can reach good size.

Big Brown’s learn to feed on small fish including smaller trout and one of the best presentations is to either cast a small Vibrax spinner anywhere a larger brown can hold.

The other very productive artificial is to fish a small minnow-imitating wobbling lure. Among these, the Rapala X-Rap is deadly as you can see by how the trophy Brown above smashed it.
