Smallmouth Bass fishing update from Long Point, Lake Erie, ON.

Posted on July 4th, 2011

Gabor Horvat reports.  “Jim, Oliver, & I went to Long Point,Lake Erie, ON and had some fun chasing smallmouth bass. Shortly after arrived we started to catching smallies. We used leeches for bait and, as every year, it worked very well. The wind was calm, only 5-10km/h.  We used the wind to drift and cover the bottom effectively. The fish were scattered, so we needed to locate them. Using #2 hooks with 6lbs test fluorocarbon line, swivel to another swivel with a slide sinker on 30 pound line, and the main line #10 braided worked very well. We could feel every touch and we landed many fish between 1 to 4 pounds.”
