Shallow-water Snook action, Florida.

Posted on December 4th, 2016

When we fish the shallow mangrove shorelines targeting redfish we often encounter Snook feeding in the same areas. While you can catch snook over 50″ in length in water as shallow as 2′, most of the snook hooked each day are juvenile fish. Peter Yeung knows exactly what I mean a we caught several young Snook on a recent outing.

Even though these fish are smaller in size they have the same voracious appetite as their larger relatives and strike an artificial jig hard. One of our favorite lures to use is the Lunker City SwimFish or Shaker paddle-tail grub around the 3″ size fished on an 1/8 oz. jighead. We have to give Arieshadela Irwantini credit for taking the excellent images!
