Saugeen River, ON Fishing Update.
Posted on January 12th, 2011Wayne Sheridan reports: Lenny went ice fishing on Lake Simcoe on Saturday and there was about 10 inches of ice on the western side of the lake. He caught about a dozen large perch with the smallest measuring 14 inches. He went again on Sunday, but fishing was a lot slower. River levels are now starting to drop back to normal levels, but many are not frozen over at the present time.
River Flow Rates: high/moderate and dropping. The river ice is unstable.
Saugeen River (Durham) rising at 2.247M, Saugeen River (Walkerton) rising at 9.6M, Saugeen at Port Elgin rising at 8.33M, Sauble River (Sauble Falls) rising at 1.297M, Sydenham River (Owen Sound) at 5.143M, Maitland River (above Wingham) down at 10.1974M, French River at Woseley Bay at 187.354M, Bronte Creek near Zimmerman up at 6.195M, Credit River at Streetsville steady at 4.99M, Credit River at Orangeville down at 10.3M, Grand River (Doon), down at 4.075M (below Shand dam) at 1.549M, Rideau River at Ottawa up at 3.11M, Ottawa River at Britannia at 58.46M
Prime Fishing Times: Saturday January 15th, 2011: 7:05pm to 10:37pm (moon overhead), 6:48am to 10:56am (moon underneath).
Flyfishing: Egg patterns, bloodworms and minnows for larger trout
