Saugeen River, ON Fishing Update.
Posted on March 8th, 2011Wayne Sheridan reports: River levels are at extremely high levels due to the heavy rains and snow melt we had last weekend in southern Ontario. Fishing has been a hit and miss on Lake Simcoe the past few weeks. Andy, Ulrich, Mario and Carl went up there a few weeks ago and they did very well (see pictures), Jim went up a week ago and everyone was having problems even catching a single perch. Due to high river and creek levels, keep children and pets away from these areas.
River Flow Rates: high and dropping.
Saugeen River (Durham) dropping at 1.8M, Saugeen River (Walkerton) rising at 10.8M, Saugeen at Port Elgin dropping at 8.8M, Sauble River (Sauble Falls) rising at 1.346M, Sydenham River (Owen Sound) at 5.22M, Maitland River (above Wingham) down at 10.717M, French River at Woseley Bay at 186.6M, Bronte Creek near Zimmerman up at 6.323M, Credit River at Streetsville up at 5.37M, Credit River at Orangeville down at 10.3M, Grand River (Doon), up at 4.422M (below Shand dam) at 1.64M, Rideau River at Ottawa up at 3.36M, Ottawa River at Britannia at 58.355M
Prime Fishing Times: Saturday March 12th, 2011: 4:31pm to 8:53pm (moon overhead), 4:03am to 7:35am (moon underneath).
Flyfishing: Egg patterns, bloodworms and minnows for larger trout
