Ryan Edenborough, fishing report from Lake Simcoe, ON

Posted on January 17th, 2011

The weather has been cold, but the Simcoe Perch action is still hot !  Last week

I was able to get out fishing with some of my good buddies, Flav, Jake, Andrew and Devon.   We fished the west side of Lake Simcoe in about 40 ft. of water, and for my 5th trip in a row this year, it was non stop action !  Some of my buddies were getting perch on Rapalas and jigging spoons, and I was catching them on plain old hook and sinker with small minnows.  Alot of the perch were in the 7 inch range, however it was not difficult to catch our fair share of the bigger ones for a late night snack.  Even though the weather has been cold, the ice is not much thicker than the week before due to the amount of snow preventing it to thicken.  We were fishing on 6 inches of ice, but there was still alot of un safe ice out there, so please be carefull.  Hope to see you on the water soon !
