Steelhead anglers like Daryl Penhale who don’t mind braving cold temps and frozen hands and toes continue to have excellent big river catches in southern Ontario.
Daryl and his friends have been fishing spoons, yarn flies, live minnows, and roe bags and consistently are catching nice size steelhead.
Other anglers are having great success just casting spinners from shore and drifting them with the current close to the bottom.
There is a good mix of dark fish like this male that has been in the river probably since the fall.
Silver fish are also showing up that are just starting to make their run from the Great Lakes.
Dark or silver they are excellent gamefish to hook and fight on light line.
