I have spoken to many anglers that have been fishing the Kawartha Lakes and have been catching walleye, but not “keepers”. The slot-size has really conserved the walleye population in many of the Kawartha Lakes.
Ed Dolstra sent us this image of two “keeper” walleye he caught on a recent outing to Rice Lake. While many anglers have a hard time finding the walleye, one of the best techniques to fish is using a bucktail jig fished in and around the many weedbeds on the lake. Black is one of the best colors to use!
