Rice Lake, ON Largemouth Bass & Pike.

Posted on November 2nd, 2021

Our good friend Michael Kumar had a chance to fish with his friend Mike Costa on Rice Lake, ON in not-so nice fishing conditions. They planned on targeting both Large & Smallmouth Bass.

They fished soft-plastics and flipping jigs around shoreline and points that had a mix of rocks and weeds and also some deeper water weeds. Most of the fish caught hit soft-plastics fished slow along the bottom and also working flipping-jigs with a trailer along the bottom.

Rice Lake, ON Pike.
Pike are becoming more common at both ends of the Kawartha Lakes, ON as they move in form the Trent Severn Waterway.

Due to strong winds and a cold front that dropped air temps about 15-decrees, they ended up landing just Largemouth Bass and a surprise Pike on a Vibrax spinner.

Fall is a great time to target both Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth Bass in the Kawartha Lakes, ON. Look for both species shallow and feeding in areas that has rocks/weeds mix. Slow presentations will work best using soft-plastics either weightless, like a Slugo, or with just enough weight to get them down a little quicker.
