I hear a lot of anglers talk about fishfinders that give you images of what’s out the sides of the boat, but I never fished with one that actually used this feature to find isolated structure and to catch fish.
When I am fishing open-water flats where it looks like the bottom is the same everywhere, I know that there must be rock-piles or boulders somewhere that act like fish magnets to a variety of fish. You can see from the screen-grab off the Raymarine HybridTouch SideVision that is showing me what is on the bottom 150′ away from the boat, it enables me to see the amazing detail and rock formation on this flat. At that point all I have to do is touch the screen and set a waypoint, go over to it and catch fish.
If I did not know that isolated structure was there, I may not have fished that area, but I did, and I caught fish!
