We have been having a blast scanning 80-120′ of water in the Gulf of Mexico with our Raymarine Axiom and locating natural reefs full of mixed fish.
On a recent trip we targeted Red Grouper and weren’t disappointed. We fished frozen threadfin shad on bottom using sliding-sinker rigs with a 4 oz. sinker and caught many fish including some nice “keepers”.
Red Grouper are the most common grouper you can catch in and off-shore in the Gulf of Mexico, FL and they are delicious eating, especially wrapped in bacon and grilled!
