Raymarine Dragonfly fishfinder to weedline walleye.

Posted on September 19th, 2015

Consistently catching good-size walleye throughout the summer is no coincidence!

I really appreciated the accuracy of the Raymarine Dragonfly fishfinder that I have mounted at the bow of my boat to locate baitfish and walleye just off the deep-water weedlines, especially when they are an irregular shape.

Even though I could not see the weedline edge with my bear eyes due to the depth and light conditions, the Dragonfly showed it clearly and as soon as I was off the weeds, I often marked baitfish and walleye on the screen.

Good-size walleye marks like the one above in my case turned out to be a 28″ walleye.

You can see in the above screen-grab that even though the hydrographic chart on the left shows my boat over weeds, the Raymarine fishfinder on the right shows me I’m in-fact on the weedline and those line on the bottom are called, “walleye”!When good-size walleye are cruising close to deeper weedlines in late-summer your best asset to finding walleye is locating the weedline and that’s where Raymarine shines!
