Interesting how two totally different species of fish, the King Mackerel in saltwater and the Chinook salmon in freshwater can have the same feeding habits at the same depths in different water environments at the same time of the year.
We use the Raymarine Axiom to find baitfish that are usually close to the bottom in the spring both in Lake Ontario trolling for salmon, and in the Gulf of Mexico, Fl drifting for Kingfish. The Chinook above was caught while filming a TV show in the spring in shallow water only using a Dipsey Diver to get our bait down.
Kingfish can be caugth right around the same time in the same water depth but in saltwater. As long as you locate the baitfish, you can find the gamefish. What do these two fish have in common? They can’t hide if you’re running a Raymarine Axiom fishfinder. It finds the bait and the fish, all you have to do is catch them!!
