What kind of lure should I use for smallmouth bass and pike
Posted on July 16th, 2014Hi Owen…It really depends on where you fish for them. If you are fishing for both smallmouth bass and pike in open-water (away from weeds), you can use Blue Fox Vibrax #2 & #3 spinners, “twitching” the Rapala Husky Jerk #14, 1//4 oz. casting spoons, and top-water lures like the Rapala X-Rap Pop or Skitter Pop. Plastic grubs like 4″ tubes and twister-tails also worm well in open water for smallmouth bass and paddle-tail plastic grubs like the TriggerX Paddle Tail Minnow for pike. If you are fishing for both species around weeds, a 1/4 or 3/8 oz. “long-arm” spinnerbait, weedless spoon like the Johnson Silver Minnow or the Rapala Minnow spoon, soft-plastic twitch baits rigged weedless will also work well…..God bless you, Italo
