what are people catching at the mouth of the rouge river and what baits ar most effective in this spot
Posted on June 24th, 2014Hi Daniel…At this time of year the mouth (marsh area(, of the Rouge River is good for panfish like; bluegill, crappie, rock bass, white bass, white perch & yellow perch. Coarse fish like; sheepshead, carp, catfish & suckers. Gamefish like; bass & pike. Most anglers are using worms for the panfish/suckers/sheepshead/bullhead catfish, corn or prepared corn-meal baits for carp, chunks of baitfish for channel catfish, and lures like the Vibrax #3, Jointed #7 Rapala, & 1/4 oz. flashy casting spoons for the bass & pike. The first pools in the lower section of the Rouge River will also be good for smallmouth bass. Best lures to use for them there is either the Vibrax spinner, or a 1/8 oz. jighead with a plastic grub (tube, twister-tail, finesse minnow, etc.)…..God bless you, Italo
