we live in texas and want to go walleye fishing . what would be the closest lake in the us for that, also what would be a reasonably priced Canadian trip. thank you
Posted on April 17th, 2016Hi Bob, the closest lake in Canada to the US where you can catch walleye coming up from Texas is Lake Erie, fishing out of Ohio. There you normally book a hotel/motel and hire a walleye charter where they will either troll spoons or minnow-like lures, or drag worm-harnesses along the bottom.
A reasonably prices drive-to Canadian wilderness trip that is not “American Plan” (you stay in a cottage, make your own foot, bring your boat or rent one), is around $700/person per week. A good example is, http://www.ritchiesendoftrail.com/ .
